The new GX-A1+ is the direct successor of the long-proven GX-A1. It is an evaluation device for gas sensors that change an analogue voltage when gas is detected. If necessary, the old GX-A1 can be replaced directly by the new GX-A1+ without changing the installation. All previous connections are in the same positions.
The alarm is triggered visually by the flashing display light and acoustically by a loud piezo sound generator. In addition, a potential-free changeover relay switches, e.g. to close a solenoid shut-off valve or directly switch off a connected gas boiler. Another changeover relay switches in case of internally detected technical faults, e.g. to inform the building control system about the fault.
Only one gas sensor can be connected to the GX-A1+, depending on the type of gas and suspected source, the correct sensor must be selected. In addition, the mounting height determines either the sensitivity (carbon dioxide) of the sensor or the choice of source (natural gas / bottled gas).
The installation of the GX-A1+ is very simple. After removing the cover, the base part with all its connections (screw terminals) for power supply, relay and sensor is doweled to a wall, the cables are fixed and surface-mounted, the cover electronics are plugged back in and the device is closed. The backlit 2x 16 characters plain text display informs at any time about the system status as well as the status of the sensor. In case of an alarm, the sensor voltage is displayed in mV. The SERVICE button can be used to call up a lot of additional information, which is permanently stored in the warning device. These are for example an alarm counter, the indication of the last error code, 2 temperatures in device and processor as well as their maximum values or simply the software version.
Since most sensors are wearing parts and are subject to natural aging, the day will come at some point when the GX-A1+ reports an error and the sensor must be replaced. At the request of many customers, we have installed an enabling function so that the heating is not switched off while a new sensor is being procured. So there is now a key combination that enables the alarm relay for 48 hours at a time. The remaining time is shown on the display.
