💧 Mini folding float switch with Ölflex® cable

Robust float switch for flexible level monitoring – with durable special cable

🛠️ Handmade, tested & reliable

The SCHABUS mini folding float switches are individually handcrafted and tested for functionality. Thanks to their maintenance-free and wear-free design, they are particularly durable and reliable – ideal for demanding applications in industry and technology.

🔁 Opener or closer? Just turn!

It is mounted on the side using a sealing sleeve . Depending on the desired switching function, the float body can be easily rotated 180° to select between normally closed and normally closed operation – without the need for additional components.

🔌 Strong cable for strong demands

The 2.5 m long connection cable is soldered with a high-quality Meder reed contact and completely sealed with Wepuran® waterproof material .
A particularly robust LAPP Ölflex® cable is used, which:

  • oil and chemical resistant

  • flame-resistant & self-extinguishing

  • mechanically resilient
is – perfect for industrial use.

🌊 Areas of application

Ideal for level monitoring in:

  • Tanks and cisterns

  • Wells and pump sumps

  • Liquid containers of all kinds

  • Also for direct switching of 230-volt relays (FI protection required!)

⚠️ Attention: Use in 230-volt circuits is only permitted with a residual current device (RCD) !

📦 Special lengths on request

Do you need a longer connection cable? No problem—we're happy to custom-make it to your desired length.

⚙️ Technical note & connection

🔌 Connection to the following water detectors required (please order separately)
SHT 5000 or SHT 5001 or SHT 5002 from Elektrotechnik Schabus.

Circuit diagram with freewheeling diode

When using third-party power supplies , it is necessary to connect a freewheeling diode (e.g. 1N4148) in parallel to the relay or contactor.

The function of the freewheeling diode is to suppress voltage spikes that occur when the relay is turned off. This minimizes current flow and voltage, thus protecting the sensitive reed contacts.

material Plastic, PP, Wepuran® plastic, hand-cast
Assembly Installation depth 57 mm, thread 15.8 mm, lateral, horizontal
Safety notice only use in circuits protected by a residual current device

🔄 How does the switch from normally closed to normally closed work?

Very easy:Turn the float body 180°– this changes the switching function without any further adjustments.

🔧 How is the float switch installed?

The installation takes placelaterally via a sealing sleeveA lock nut ensures secure hold.

🔋 Can the float also be used in 230 V circuits?

Yes,but only with a residual current device (RCD). The contact can be e.g.a 230-volt relayswitch in the distribution.

🧪 Is the cable suitable for industrial use?

Yes, the usedLAPP Ölflex® cablesis:

  • Oil & chemical resistant
  • Flame-retardant & self-extinguishing
  • Highly resilient & durable

💧 Is the float switch waterproof?

Yes. The reed contact is fullyWepuran® cast, whichpermanently moisture-resistantmight.

📏 Are there other cable lengths available?

Yes. We manufactureSpecial lengths available on request, suitable for your application.

⚙️ Do I need to use a freewheeling diode when connecting a third-party device?
Yes, absolutely! If you connect a third-party power supply (e.g. an external relay or contactor) to the potential-free output, aFreewheeling diode (e.g. 1N4148)connected in parallel to the coil. This protects the sensitive reed contacts from voltage spikes that occur during shutdown.

🔧 What does a freewheeling diode do at the relay output?
When a relay or contactor is switched off, high voltage peaks (induction voltage) occur for a short time.Freewheeling diodediverts these and thus prevents damage to the switching contacts of the water detector – particularly important for longevity and functional reliability.
