💧 Mini folding float switch with Ölflex® cable

Robust float switch for flexible level monitoring – with durable special cable

🛠️ Handmade, tested & reliable

The SCHABUS mini folding float switches are individually handcrafted and tested for functionality. Thanks to their maintenance-free and wear-free design, they are particularly durable and reliable – ideal for demanding applications in industry and technology.

🔁 Opener or closer? Just turn!

It is mounted on the side using a sealing sleeve . Depending on the desired switching function, the float body can be easily rotated 180° to select between normally closed and normally closed operation – without the need for additional components.

🔌 Strong cable for strong demands

The 2.5 m long connection cable is soldered with a high-quality Meder reed contact and completely sealed with Wepuran® waterproof material .
A particularly robust LAPP Ölflex® cable is used, which:

  • oil and chemical resistant

  • flame-resistant & self-extinguishing

  • mechanically resilient
is – perfect for industrial use.

🌊 Areas of application

Ideal for level monitoring in:

  • Tanks and cisterns

  • Wells and pump sumps

  • Liquid containers of all kinds

  • Also for direct switching of 230-volt relays (FI protection required!)

⚠️ Attention: Use in 230-volt circuits is only permitted with a residual current device (RCD) !

📦 Special lengths on request

Do you need a longer connection cable? No problem—we're happy to custom-make it to your desired length.

⚙️ Technical note & connection

🔌 Connection to the following water detectors required (please order separately)
SHT 5000 or SHT 5001 or SHT 5002 from Elektrotechnik Schabus.

Circuit diagram with freewheeling diode

When using third-party power supplies , it is necessary to connect a freewheeling diode (e.g. 1N4148) in parallel to the relay or contactor.

The function of the freewheeling diode is to suppress voltage spikes that occur when the relay is turned off. This minimizes current flow and voltage, thus protecting the sensitive reed contacts.

Protection class IP67
Dimensions(WxWxD)

Installation depth 57.58 mm, 85-86 mm long (without cable)

Pressure pressureless
Thread M16 x 1.5, ø outside: 16 mm, ø sealing ring: 24 mm, ø shaft. 12mm
Relay contact Normally closed (NC)/Normally closed (NO)
Line 2.5 LAPP Ölflex smart 108 (2×0.5 mm²)
Material Plastic, PP, Wepuran® plastic, hand-cast
Assembly Installation depth 57 mm, thread 15.8 mm, lateral, horizontal
Safety notice only use in circuits that are protected by an FI switch

🔄 How does the switch from normally open to normally closed work?

Very simple: Rotate the float body 180° – This changes the switching function without any further adjustments.

🔧 How is the float switch installed?

The installation takes place laterally via a sealing sleeve. A lock nut ensures a secure hold.

🔋 Can the float switch also be used in 230V circuits?

Yes, but only with an FI circuit breaker (RCD). The contact can e.g. B. a 230 volt relay switch in the distribution.

🧪 Is the cable suitable for industrial use?

Yes, that used LAPP Ölflex® cable is:

  • Öl- & chemikalienbeständig
  • Flammwidrig & selbstverlöschend
  • Hoch belastbar & langlebig

💧 Is the float switch waterproof?

Yes. The reed contact is complete with Wepuran® cast, which gives him permanently moisture-resistant might.

📏 Are other cable lengths available?

Yes. We manufacture Special lengths individually on request, suitable for your application.

⚙️ Do I need to use a freewheeling diode when connecting a third-party device? Yes, absolutely! If you connect a third-party network device (e.g. an external relay or contactor) to the potential-free output, a Freewheeling diode (e.g. 1N4148) be connected in parallel to the coil. It protects the sensitive reed contacts from voltage peaks that occur when switching off.

🔧 What effect does a freewheeling diode have at the relay output? When a relay or contactor is switched off, briefly high voltage peaks (induction voltage) occur. A Freewheeling diode dissipates this and thus prevents damage to the switching contacts of the water detector - particularly important for longevity and functional reliability.
