💧 Water alarm in seconds – be on the safe side with the SHT 241

The SHT 241 plug-in water detector is a simple and reliable solution for monitoring water levels in pump sumps, drainage shafts, cisterns, and similar areas. It operates purely acoustically: As soon as the mini float switch detects a certain water level, a loud alarm sounds and the LED flashes red.

If the water level falls below the alarm level again, the alarm automatically stops and the LED lights up green continuously – without any manual reset.

The mini float switch works reliably from a minimum water level of 4 cm.

⚙️ Quickly installed – ready to use

Commissioning is extremely simple:
The socket device is plugged into a free socket, the mini float switch is attached to the desired location with a mounting bracket (optional, item no. 300787 or 300320) - done.

Typical locations are:

  • Pump sumps 🧱

  • Drainage shafts 🧺

  • Cisterns 💧

Thanks to the integrated signal generator, the alarm sounds directly from the device – loud enough to be heard even through doors.

✅ The advantages at a glance

  • 🔌 Plug in & go – plug-and-play without complex cabling

  • 📢 Loud warning tone (approx. 85 dB) – clearly audible, even through walls

  • 🔄 Automatic reset – no manual operation required

  • 📏 Sensor cable extendable up to 50 meters (max. 2 × 0.14 mm² LIYY)

  • 🛡️ Robust against dirty water, heating oil, diesel, vegetable oil, lubricating oil and other non-conductive liquids

⚠️ Note on use

The SHT 241 with mini float switch is particularly suitable for use in areas with dirty or non-conductive water – e.g., in basements with heating oil or diesel storage, pump sumps, drainage shafts, and cisterns.

For applications with only occasional water contact or soil moisture, we recommend the SHT 240 with fork sensor.

🔧 Flexible sensor cable – even over long distances

The included sensor cable is sufficient in many cases. However, if the sensor needs to be mounted further away from the device, the cable can be extended up to 50 meters:

📏 Cable extension up to 50 meters possible

The factory-installed sensor or switch cable can be extended up to 50 m if required. A thin control cable with a cross-section of max. 2 × 0.14 mm² (LIYY type) must be used.

💡 Important: Larger cross-sections increase the cable's electrical capacitance. This can lead to false alarms or malfunctions – therefore, only thin control cables may be used!

⚠️ Notes on cable routing and surroundings

  • The LIYY control cables are only temporarily waterproof and according to the manufacturer:
    flame-retardant , self-extinguishing , low-adhesion
largely resistant to oils, greases, coolants and lubricants

  • Not suitable for permanent water contact or outdoor use without protection .

  • The cables must never be laid parallel to 230 V cables to avoid interference and safety risks .

🔩 Accessory tip

To attach the mini float switch, we recommend ordering the mounting bracket (item no. 300787) at the same time.

Alternatively, the dirt trap (item 300320) is particularly suitable for outdoor use. It is supplied with a mounting bracket and protects the mini float switch from blockages caused by leaves, small twigs or small animals in the outdoor water:

🔍 What is the SHT 241 suitable for?

The SHT 241 is ideal for areas where water or water levels need to be monitored. The mini float switch operates reliably at a minimum water level of 4 cm.

In addition, liquids such as heating oil, diesel, vegetable oil, waste water or other non-conductive media can be easily monitored with the mini float switch, as it works mechanically, meaning the conductivity of the medium is not important.

  • in pump sumps
  • in drainage shafts
  • in cisterns
  • in basements with oil tanks

For only occasional soil moisture (e.g. under washing machines) we recommend theSHT 240 with fork sensor.

🧭 At what water level does the alarm trigger?

The mini float switch reacts from aWater height of approx. 4 cmIf the water level rises above this threshold, the float switches, and the alarm is triggered. It is important that the float is installed vertically (maximum 30° deviation) – therefore, we recommend the mounting bracket (item 300787) for securing the mini float switch.

🔁 Does the alarm have to be turned off manually?

No. As soon as the water level drops below the switching level, the alarm automatically stopsand the LED will return to green. Manual reset is not required.

🔌 How does the installation work?

It's very simple: the socket device is plugged into a free socket.
The mini float switch is supplied with an optionalMounting bracket (Art. No. 300787) mounted at the desired location – done.

Alternatively, the mini float switch can be installed in theDirt trap basket (item 300320) can be mounted, this protects the float from being blocked by leaves, small twigs or animals, especially in outdoor waters.

📏 Can the sensor cable be extended?

Yes, the line can be connected to athin control cable of type LIYY(max. 2 × 0.14 mm²) onextended up to 50 mbecome.

👉 Important: Thicker cables with a higher cross-section must not be used, as they can lead to false alarms!

⚠️ Can the cable be left in water permanently?

No. The LIYY line isnot for permanent water contactAlthough it is flame-retardant, low-adhesion and largely resistant to oils and lubricants, it is onlytemporarily waterproof.

For outdoor applications or in shafts, the use of aDirt trap basket (Art. No. 300320).

🧰 Which accessories are recommended?

  • Mounting bracket (item no. 300787): For stable mounting of the float switch
  • Dirt trap basket (item no. 300320): Especially for outdoor shafts – protects the float from clogging by leaves or dirt

🧪 Which liquids can the sensor detect?

The mini float switch also works withnon-conductive liquids, can therefore be used almost anywhere where a minimum water level of 4 cm is reached:

  • Water
  • Wastewater
  • Heating oil EL
  • Diesel
  • vegetable oil
  • lubricating oil
