The FDS 100 Set with DIBt approval ensures the safe operation of exhaust air systems by monitoring the window position and transmitting the information wirelessly to the built-in receiver. The transmitter on the window reliably detects whether the window is tilted or open. Only when the window is open can fresh air flow in, preventing dangerous negative pressure that could draw toxic carbon monoxide from combustion chambers into the room.

The FDS 100 Set interrupts when window is closed not the entire power supply to the exhaust air system. The current separation is selective – only the fan function is switched off so that other functions such as Lighting, time or control panel still active can remain as long as the device installation supports this. An added level of comfort and safety!

Operation with second window (OR operation):
You have the option of using a second window with an additional FDS 098 wireless magnetic switch (item: 300098). At least one window must be open for the exhaust system to operate. Using the wireless receiver's serial number, Elektrotechnik-Schabus can program another wireless switch for the set.
The serial number can be found on the type plate of the radio receiver and the transmitter under the barcode field

Operation with two windows (AND operation):
If the minimum gap opening of one of your windows is not sufficient for safe operation, or if your chimney sweep requires you to open two windows to ensure safe operation, you will need two FDS 100 sets with different coding. The relay outputs of the two receivers are connected in series – this way, the exhaust air system is only released when the window is open. both windows.

Second recipient:
An existing FDS 100 SET can be supplemented with an additional receiver at any time – for example as a built-in version (FDS 199) or plug-in variant (FDS 299) . Both receivers respond simultaneously to the transmitter's radio signal and each activates the connected exhaust system. For this, Elektrotechnik-Schabus requires the serial number to code the devices to each other.

FDS 100 combined with ATW 519 exhaust gas temperature monitor (wired): As soon as the exhaust gas temperature in the exhaust pipe exceeds 40°C, the window must be opened:

BORA Professional Home In, Miele KMDA7774, uvm.

🔧Technology & Function

How exactly does the FDS 100 SET work?
The FDS 100 SET ensures that your exhaust air system (e.g., extractor hood) can only be switched on when a window is open. A battery-operated radio transmitter detects the window position and transmits the signal to the receiver, which activates the exhaust air system.

What happens if the window is closed while the hood is running?
In this case, the receiver interrupts the power supply to the exhaust system. The hood shuts down or can no longer be operated – this serves to protect against negative pressure and dangerous exhaust backflow.

Can the system also be used with multiple windows?
Yes. For an OR connection (at least one of two windows open), an additional transmitter can be integrated, which must be appropriately coded by Elektrotechnik-Schabus.

For an AND operation (both windows must be open), two differently coded FDS 100 SETs are connected in series.

What is the radio range between transmitter and receiver?
The typical range is up to 20 m in open field – depending on walls, ceilings and radio interference on site.

How long does the battery in the transmitter last?
The included branded button cell (CR2032) battery lasts up to two years under normal operation, depending on frequency of use. This means that if the window is tilted, the transmitter continuously sends signals, and the battery discharges, even if the exhaust system is not in use (e.g., airing out in summer).

Is there a radio interference or low battery indication?
Yes. When the battery is low, the red LED flashes as a visual warning when the window is open. The receiver indicates the loss of the radio signal by automatically shutting off the power supply, meaning the extractor hood no longer functions.

Is the radio operation interference-free and does it require no approval?
Yes. The system operates on a legally approved frequency in the ISM band and is license-free for private and commercial use.

🛠️Installation & Compatibility

Does the FDS 100 SET fit every extractor hood?
Basically yes – it can be integrated into any 230 V supply line to the hood or exhaust system. For devices with special connections, consult the qualified electrician who will install the exhaust control system for you. For devices with a switching capacity of more than 5 amps, the electrician must install a contactor.

Can I hide the receiver behind the kitchen counter?
Yes, as long as there are no massive metal enclosures or shielding that interfere with the wireless connection. Make sure you have a good wireless connection to the transmitter.

How is the transmitter attached to the window?
The transmitter and magnet are mounted directly to the window frame and sash using the included screws. The included spacers allow for height adjustment between the window frame and sash. Please ensure that the distance between the transmitter and the magnet is a maximum of 5 mm; ideally, 1-2 mm.

Can I install the system myself or do I need an electrician?
You can install the transmitter yourself. You should hire a qualified electrician to install the receiver into the power supply.

Is the FDS 100 SET compatible with vented dryers or wood-burning stoves?
It is not intended for use with vented dryers or simultaneous operation with fireplaces. For use with fireplaces or stoves, special systems such as theComfort packages from Elektrotechnik-Schabusnecessary.

What is the difference between a built-in receiver and a plug-in receiver?
TheBuilt-in receiverIs permanently integrated into the extractor hood's power cable. (e.g., FDS 100)
ThePlug-in receiverbecomes simpleplugged between socket and hood– completely without cabling. (e.g. FDS 200)

🔋How do I change the battery in the window contact transmitter?

🔧Model from April 2023:

  1. Open the lid:
Use the included flathead screwdriver. Insert it into the small groove on the short side of the transmitter and carefully pry off the cover.
The transmitter can remain mounted on the window.
  2. Remove battery:
Insert the screwdriver from above between the battery and the retaining clip. Gently push outward – the button cell will pop out.
  3. Insert new battery:
Use aCR2032 (3V). Slide it under thebrass-colored hook, then press down.
Important:TheFont page (+)the batterymust point upwards.
  4. Put the lid back on:
Pay attention to the orientation—the lid and case base only fit one way. Press the lid firmly until it clicks into place.

🔧Model until April 2023 (case shape with fastening tabs):

  1. Remove lid:
Gently press the cover together on the right and left at the level of the LED and pull it upwards.
  2. Remove old battery:
Place the transmitter so that the antenna (black cable)bottom rightInsert the screwdriver vertically into the cavity between the battery and the holder and carefully pry upwards.
  3. Insert new battery:
Simply push it into the holder from above. ➤ Also here:CR2032, observe polarity!

Tip: Receiver clicks – exhaust hood not responding?

If the transmitter has a new battery (green LED lights up), but the hood still does not respond and the receiver only “clicks”:

👉Briefly switch the extractor hood fuse off and on again.
This often acts like a reset – similar to a computer.

After changing the battery, the extractor hood no longer works – what should I do?

  • Check polarity:
Is the button cellright side up (text facing up)inserted?
  • Resynchronize:
    Windowclose → wait → open → wait → close → reopen.
This way, the sender and receiver recognize each other – and the system functions as usual.

Extensions & Variants

Can I control a second receiver?
Yes. One transmitter can control multiple receivers simultaneously—for example, a built-in receiver and an adapter. Both then operate in parallel.

How can I monitor two windows? (OR/AND operation)
For an OR connection, an additional transmitter (FDS 098, item 300098) is sufficient. At least one of the two windows must be open for the exhaust air system to operate. The additional transmitter must be coded to the same radio frequency directly from Elektrotechnik-Schabus when ordering, so we require the serial number of the FDS 100 SET when ordering.

For an AND connection you need two complete FDS 100 SETs with different coding and a series connection of the receiver relays.

How does the extension with the additional transmitter FDS 098 (item 300098) work?
The additional transmitter is mounted on the window like the first one and is set to the same coding by Elektrotechnik-Schabus, which is possible using the serial number of the main set. Both transmitters operate in parallel.

🧾Legal & Security

Why is exhaust air control required by law for extractor hoods?
When exhaust air systems are operated in rooms with fireplaces, negative pressure can develop, which could cause toxic exhaust gases (e.g., carbon monoxide) to flow back. Exhaust air control prevents this and is mandatory in these cases. See the Fireplace Ordinance.(§4 para. 2 FeuVo)

Does the FDS 100 SET meet the regulations for exhaust air systems in conjunction with fireplaces?

Yes, the FDS 100 SET is therefore also TÜV-tested and DIBt (German Institute for Building Technology) certified. The approval certificate can be found in the download section of this website.

🛒Purchase & Service

Which components are included in the FDS 100 SET?
A battery-operated window transmitter (window contact switch, magnetic switch), a 230 V receiver (installation) as well as mounting material and instructions.

Are there spare parts available (e.g. replacement transmitters, batteries, relays)?
Yes. The transmitter (FDS 098, item 300098), receiver (FDS 199, item 300601) – the serial number of the main set is required when ordering – and batteries (item 200764) are available separately.

How long is the warranty?
You receive a 2-year warranty on the product in accordance with legal requirements.
