The compact mini float switches with changeover function made of V2A stainless steel are ideal for demanding applications – for example, in food processing , where hygiene, corrosion resistance, and reliability are crucial. Stainless steel offers a particularly smooth surface on which germs and residues can hardly settle – a clear advantage over plastic solutions. V2A is also resistant to weak acids, alkalis, and cleaning agents , making it the first choice for aggressive or hygiene-critical media.
The shaft of the float switch is milled and turned from solid V2A stainless steel, ensuring high dimensional stability and durability even under constant stress. The float body itself is made of thin, rust-proof stainless steel sheet. Inside, a high-quality, waterproof reed contact from Meder ensures reliable signal transmission—firmly soldered and protected from moisture and vibration.
Unlike standard versions with only one switching function (normally closed or normally open), this float switch features an integrated changeover contact . This means both switching functions (NC + NO) are already included. There's no need to turn the float body – this simplifies installation and increases connection flexibility.
The float switch is supplied with a 2.5-meter-long LiYY/PVC cable . According to the manufacturer, this cable is temporarily waterproof , flame-resistant , self-extinguishing , and highly resistant to oils, greases, coolants, and lubricants —ideal for industrial applications.
The float switch is suitable for liquids with a density of 0.7 g/cm³ and above . The integrated changeover function allows the switch to be used flexibly in various circuits – without mechanical adjustment.
For reliable function, we recommend the optionally available mounting bracket (item no. 300787). This ensures that the switch is positioned as vertically as possible (max. 30° deviation) so that the float body can slide freely and without jamming.
🔌 Connection only via suitable water detectors
Compatible with e.g. B. SHT 5000, SHT 5001 or level controller SHT 5002 from Elektrotechnik Schabus.
Cabling via thin, unshielded LiYY control cable (3 × 0.14 mm²) – maximum cable length of 50 m per scanner.
📏 Cable extension up to 50 meters possible
The factory-installed cable length can be extended up to 50 m . The recommended cross-section is 3 × 0.14 mm² .
⚠️ Notes on cable routing and area of application
The LIYY cables used are only temporarily waterproof and, according to the manufacturer , are flame-retardant, low-adhesion, and self-extinguishing . They are resistant to oils, greases, coolants, and lubricants , but are not suitable for permanent water contact.
⚠️ Safety note: The LIYY cables must never be laid parallel to 230 V mains cables to avoid interference and safety risks.
IMPORTANT SAFETY NOTICE:
Incorrect connection can damage the sensitive reed contacts – which can lead to failures, malfunctions or, in the worst case, personal injury and property damage .
Please therefore note the following points:
No direct connection to inductive loads (e.g. relays, solenoid valves)
No direct connection to capacitive loads (e.g. PLC/PCS – see our “active” water sensors and float switches) or long cables > 50 m
Do not exceed the permissible switching capacity!
👉 For inductive loads, protection by an RC element or a freewheeling diode is mandatory.
