Scope of delivery
  • Fork sensor SHT 5007
  • cast on 6 meters of LIYY control cable 2 x 0.14 mm²
  • Mounting material (1 screw, 1 dowel)
  • Operating instructions for water sensors | float switches | accessories

The SHT 5007 sensor features two nickel-plated brass contacts encased in white, UV-stabilized plastic. This makes the SHT 5007 particularly suitable for sunbathing and outdoor use (pool/pond).

As soon as water touches both contacts, the connected Schabus water detector immediately triggers an alarm.

Thanks to its wide notch (forked design), the sensor reliably detects real leaks – even in environments where biofilms, thin water films, or condensation can form. False alarms caused by slight moisture are thus reliably prevented.

📏 Sensor cable: 6 m (extendable up to 50 m)
The cable length can be extended to up to 50 meters – provided the cross-section is a maximum of 2 × 0.14 mm² .

⚠️ Instructions for use:
The SHT 5007 is designed for use in regularly dry areas – e.g., in laundry rooms under washing machines or other appliances, in utility rooms, or on floor surfaces.

It is not suitable for permanently humid environments such as shafts, tanks, or containers. We recommend our mini float switches made of plastic, V2A or V4A, for these applications.

🧪 Line: LIYY control line
The cables used are flame-retardant, low-adhesion, self-extinguishing and largely resistant to oils, greases, coolants and lubricants – but only temporarily waterproof .

⚠️ Safety note: The LIYY cables must never be laid parallel to 230 V mains cables to avoid interference and safety risks.

The function of the freewheeling diode is to suppress voltage spikes that occur when the relay is turned off. This minimizes current flow and voltage, thus protecting the sensitive reed contacts.

FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions

🌞 Is the SHT 5007 sensor also suitable for outdoor use?
Yes, the SHT 5007 sensor is equipped with aCast in UV-stable plasticThis makes it ideal for use in light-filled rooms or in weather-protected outdoor areas. The material retains its shape even in sunlight and does not discolor.

🛡️ What is the benefit of UV stability of the sensor housing?
UV-stable plastic protects the sensor housing fromAging, embrittlement and discolorationby sunlight. This is especially important for installations inConservatories, technical rooms with window light or external shaftswhere conventional plastics would age quickly.

🔌 Which water detectors is the SHT 5007 compatible with?
The sensor can be used with all Schabus water detectors – especially with the models SHT 5000, SHT 5001 and SHT 5002.

🌊 Can the sensor also be used in shafts or tanks?
No, the SHT 5007 is only forregularly dry environmentsIn damp shafts or permanently wet areas, malfunctions or corrosion may occur. For such applications, we recommend suitable mini float switches made of plastic, V2A or V4A.

📏 How far can I extend the sensor cable?
The factory-connected cable is 6 m long and can beextended up to 50 mprovided that a cable with a maximum2 × 0.14 mm²cross-section is used.

🚿 How does the sensor detect water – even with a thin film or condensation?
The specialFork design with wide notchPrevents false alarms caused by biofilm or condensation. The sensor only triggers when there is an actual conductive connection between the two contacts—that is, when water actually enters the sensor.

🧪 Are the cables also resistant to oils or cleaning agents?
Yes, theLIYY managementis according to the manufacturerflame-resistant, low-adhesion and self-extinguishingand largely resistant toOils, greases, coolants and lubricantsHowever, it isnot for permanent water contactdesigned.

⚙️ Do I need to use a freewheeling diode when connecting a third-party device?
Yes, absolutely! If you connect a third-party power supply (e.g. an external relay or contactor) to the potential-free output, aFreewheeling diode (e.g. 1N4148)connected in parallel to the coil. This protects the sensitive reed contacts from voltage spikes that occur during shutdown.

🔧 What does a freewheeling diode do at the relay output?
When a relay or contactor is switched off, high voltage peaks (induction voltage) occur for a short time.Freewheeling diodediverts these and thus prevents damage to the switching contacts of the water detector – particularly important for longevity and functional reliability.

❓ Why can't LIYY cables be laid parallel to 230 V mains cables?

⚠️ Important:The parallel laying of LIYY cables and 230 V mains cables can lead toInterference, electromagnetic influencesand in the worst case toSecurity risksPlease always maintain separate cable ducts or sufficient distance.
