The SHT 5006 sensor is equipped with two nickel-plated brass contacts encased in white plastic. As soon as water touches both contacts, the connected Schabus water detector immediately triggers an alarm.

Thanks to its wide notch (forked design), the sensor reliably detects real leaks – even in environments where biofilms, thin water films, or condensation can form. False alarms caused by slight moisture are thus reliably prevented.

📏 Sensor cable: 6 m (extendable up to 50 m)
The cable length can be extended to up to 50 meters – provided the cross-section is a maximum of 2 × 0.14 mm² .

⚠️ Instructions for use:
The SHT 5006 is designed for use in regularly dry areas – e.g., in laundry rooms under washing machines or other appliances, in utility rooms, or on floor surfaces.

It is not suitable for permanently humid environments such as shafts, tanks, or containers. We recommend our mini float switches made of plastic, V2A or V4A, for these applications.

The cables used are flame-retardant, low-adhesion, self-extinguishing and largely resistant to oils, greases, coolants and lubricants – but only temporarily waterproof .

When using third-party power supplies , it is necessary to connect a freewheeling diode (e.g. 1N4148) in parallel to the relay or contactor.

The function of the freewheeling diode is to suppress voltage spikes that occur when the relay is turned off. This minimizes current flow and voltage, thus protecting the sensitive reed contacts.

🔌 Which water detectors is the SHT 5006 compatible with? The sensor can be used with all Schabus water detectors - especially with the models SHT 5000, SHT 5001 and SHT 5002. The SHT 5006 is already installed on the water detectors SHT 216, SHT 217, SHT 218, SHT 240 and WWD 240 and WWD 100.

🌊 Can the sensor also be used in shafts or tanks? No, the SHT 5006 is only for regularly dry environments suitable. Malfunctions or corrosion can occur in damp shafts or permanently wet areas. For such applications, we recommend suitable mini float switches made of plastic, V2A or V4A.

📏 How far can I extend the sensor cable? The factory connected cable is 6m long. It can be set to extended up to 50m provided a cable with a maximum of 2 × 0.14mm² Cross section is used.

🚿 How does the sensor detect water – even in thin films or condensation? The special Fork design with wide notch Prevents false alarms caused by biofilms or condensation. The sensor only triggers when there is actually a conductive connection between the two contacts - i.e. when water actually enters.

It protects the sensitive reed contacts from voltage peaks that occur when switching off.

🔧 What effect does a freewheeling diode have at the relay output? When a relay or contactor is switched off, briefly high voltage peaks (induction voltage) occur. A Freewheeling diode dissipates this and thus prevents damage to the switching contacts of the water detector - particularly important for longevity and functional reliability.
