💧 Water detector SHT 5001 – Double security for long distances

The SHT 5001 is a powerful water detector in a standardized DIN rail housing – ideal for professional installation in sub-distribution boards and control cabinets. It is suitable for monitoring basements, utility rooms, flat roofs, cisterns, pits, drains, shafts, or tanks – anywhere where water ingress needs to be detected early.

✅ Two reporting lines – can be evaluated separately

The device has two independent detection lines , each of which:

  • can be equipped with water sensors or mini float switches,
  • switch their own relay in case of alarm,
  • and enable an individual alarm memory function.

Both lines have the same structure and can be flexibly configured – whether for automatic reset or alarm acknowledgment at the touch of a button.

🔌 Long cable lengths – up to 300 m

Thanks to the clear separation of input types, the SHT 5001 allows significantly longer cable lengths than other water detectors:

  • Up to 100 m for water sensors
  • Up to 300 m for mini float switches

It is important to use unshielded LiYY cables (2×0.14 mmÂČ) , which must not be laid parallel to power cables. The maximum cable capacitance is 10 nF.

🔋 Operation with mains voltage or battery (UPS)

The SHT 5001 can be operated flexibly – either with mains voltage 230 V AC or a 12/24 V DC source .
If a battery is connected , the device functions as an uninterruptible power supply:

  • At 12 V, the mains voltage takes priority.
  • At 24 V the battery takes over.
  • Switching occurs automatically at approximately 15 V.

📱 Alarm display & reset

The integrated alarm beeper warns directly on the device. A 12 V/30 mA alarm output is also available for external signaling devices. The reset function can be activated either via the button on the front panel or externally via a potential-free contact – ideal for locked cabinets or remote monitoring.

💡 Please order water sensor or mini float switch!

  • Sensors are only suitable for regularly dry environments and react to small amounts of water as soon as the conductive water film touches both contacts.
  • Conductive water required (tap water, rainwater, fresh water), resistance must be less than approx. 80 kOhm
  • demineralized / distilled water or condensate water has too low or even no conductivity
  • passive sensors do not emit a signal and do not change their properties when in contact with water
  • For water level, please use mini float switches (e.g. in shafts, tanks, pump sumps, etc.), minimum level 4 cm

🔌 How is the SHT 5001 powered?

The SHT 5001 can either be with Mains voltage (230 V AC) or with DC voltage (12 V or 24 V DC) If an additional Rechargeable battery or a battery connected, it automatically takes over the power supply in the event of a power failure - the SHT 5001 then acts as uninterruptible emergency power supply (UPS).

The following applies:

  • Bei 12 V Akkus hat die Netzspannung Vorrang.
  • Bei 24 V Akkus hat der Akku Vorrang.
  • Die Umschaltgrenze liegt bei ca. 15 V.

đŸ§Ș Which sensors can I connect – and when do I use which?

The SHT 5001 supports two types of sensors:

Recommendation: If technically possible, should always be used Mini float switch are used - they are significantly more robust and durable.

📏 How long can the cables to the sensors be?

The cable lengths differ depending on the sensor type:

  • Wassersensoren: bis 100 m
  • Mini-Schwimmerschalter: bis 300 m

The prerequisite is that only unshielded LiYY cables with 2×0.14mmÂČ be used. The maximum line capacity may be 10nF per line do not exceed. It is also important that the lines not parallel to 230V power lines be relocated to avoid disruptions.

🔁 What does alarm memory mean – and how does it work?

Via a simple Wire bridge in the device Alarm memory activate. In this operating mode, a triggered alarm remains stored permanentlyUntil it is actively reset - e.g. B. via the reset button on the front or via a externally connected button (potential-free contact at input Q, terminals 10/11).

The memory function becomes not activated, the alarm goes off automatically as soon as water is no longer detected.

The SHT 5001 offers this function separately for each of the two reporting lines – for maximum flexibility.

🔉 How is the alarm signaled?

In the event of water contact or the level is exceeded, the SHT 5001 gives:

  • einen akustischen WarntonÂ ĂŒber den internen Piepser aus,
  • und aktiviert ein Wechselrelais, das externe GerĂ€te schalten kann (z. B. Pumpen, Alarme, Hausautomation).
  • ZusĂ€tzlich steht ein Alarmausgang mit 12 V / 30 mA zur VerfĂŒgung – z. B. fĂŒr Signal-LEDs, Blitzleuchten oder externe Sirenen.

Release both signaling lines separate relays off, the buzzer and the alarm output apply together to both lines

đŸ› ïž How many sensors can I connect per line?

can be used per signaling line two sensors connect – one to each:

  • dem Eingang fĂŒr Wassersensoren,
  • und dem Eingang fĂŒr Mini-Schwimmerschalter.

So every line is can be assigned twice, each with its own evaluation and relay control.

💬 What happens if I detect water - but the alarm doesn't go off?

In this case the Memory function active be. A saved alarm remains in placeUntil it is reset manually - using the reset button or an externally connected button. If necessary, check the position of the wire jumper in the device.

If there is no more water, but the alarm still goes off does not reset automatically, it is most likely because the Memory function switched on became
