💧 SHT 5000 – the professional water detector for versatile applications

The mains-powered SHT 5000 is a versatile professional water detector for simultaneous monitoring of up to four separate detection zones—for example, in different rooms or zones of a building. Multiple sensors or float switches can be operated in parallel per input, as long as the total length of the control cable does not exceed 50 m per detection line. The control cables can be extended, but must be thin! A maximum of 2 x 0.14 mm² (LiYY) with a maximum of 50 meters per detection line. When connected in parallel, the individual lengths are added together, e.g., a maximum of 20 m + 30 m sensor cable.

Ideal for basements, utility rooms, pump sumps, cisterns, flat roofs, and many other applications. Whether water ingress, dry running, or level monitoring: With audible and visual alarms, a switching output, and expansion options, the SHT 5000 is versatile – even for smart home solutions via the WWD 200 adapter (item 2002 00).

For non-conductive liquids, you can install our SCHABUS mini float switches in plastic or V2A or V4A stainless steel. Again, please consider the total length of the control cable.

With the " battery operation " option, the SHT 5000 water detector is equipped with a 9V block battery. This means that even in the event of a brief power outage, an audible alarm is triggered, or the integrated relay can, for example, activate an emergency power control circuit in the event of an alarm, or the relay can be kept on monitoring without deactivating.
The integrated potential-free relay contact in the device can be used to control, for example, a signal generator, a magnetic shut-off valve, a telephone dialer or even a bus system when an alarm is triggered.

With an additional relay plug-in card (please order separately), each detection line can receive an additional signal relay = for 4 independent control circuits = one changeover relay per detection line

  • Sensors are only suitable for regularly dry environments and react to small amounts of water as soon as the conductive water film touches both contacts.
  • Conductive water required (tap water, rainwater, fresh water), resistance must be less than approx. 80 kOhm

For which applications is the SHT 5000 suitable?

The SHT 5000 is a versatile professional water detector for use in residential buildings, commercial buildings, boats or technical systems. Typical applications are:

  • Überwachung von Kellerräumen, Waschküchen, Technikräumen oder Flachdächern
  • Pumpensteuerung oder Trockenlaufüberwachung
  • Füllstandsüberwachung von Zisternen, Tanks oder Behältern
  • Überlauf- und Leckageerkennung in Drainageschächten oder Auffangwannen
  • Kombination mit Schwimmerschaltern auch für nicht leitende Flüssigkeiten wie Heizöl, Diesel oder Pflanzenöle

How does the SHT 5000 work?

A water sensor or float switch can be connected to each of the four inputs. As soon as moisture or a certain level is detected, the device triggers an acoustic and visual alarm. In addition, external devices can be controlled via the integrated relay - such as pumps, signal generators or smart home adapters.

Each input can be individually configured (alarm memory, sound signal active/inactive). An optional relay plug-in card expands the control options for each input separately.

Which sensors are compatible with the SHT 5000?

All Schabus water sensors and mini float switches with normally open contacts (e.g. SHT 5001, SHT 5002, float switches MS1/MS2) can be operated on the SHT 5000.

Can the SHT 5000 be operated with non-conductive liquids?

Yes. In combination with a Mini float switch The SHT 5000 is also suitable for liquids that are not electrically conductive - such as heating oil, vegetable oil, diesel or lubricants.

Is the SHT 5000 battery operated?

The SHT 5000 is a mains dependent device (230 V). Optionally, a 9V block battery can be used to to bridge short power outages. In this case, the audible alarm remains functional and a connected relay can be held during the failure.

What is the maximum length of the sensor cable?

Can I switch a separate device at each input?
