The KDS 210 cable exhaust air control with DIBt approval ensures the safe operation of exhaust air systems by monitoring the window position and transmitting the information via the control cable to the built-in receiver. The magnetic switch on the window reliably detects whether the window is tilted or open. Only when the window is open can fresh air flow in, preventing dangerous negative pressure that could draw toxic carbon monoxide from combustion chambers into the room.

The adapter plug receiver is simply placed between the wall outlet and the extractor hood's power plug. As soon as the window is opened, it automatically releases the power supply to the fan. A power plug lock prevents accidental reconnection.

Operation with second window (OR operation):
You have the option of using a second window with an additional cable magnetic switch KMS 098K22 (item 300743). In this case, at least one window must be open for the exhaust air system to operate.

The KDS 210 includes a cable break protection device (10 kOhm resistor) integrated into the supplied cable magnetic switch. If the KDS 210 is not used with the original cable magnetic switch, but with an integrated switch contact on the window, the following must be observed: To maintain the cable break protection, you must connect the supplied 10 kOhm resistor in parallel with the normally open contact, as shown in the connection example.

🔧 Technology & function

How does the KDS 210 exhaust air control work exactly? The KDS 210 cable exhaust air control ensures that your exhaust system (e.g. extractor hood) can only be switched on when a window is open. A wired magnetic window switch detects the window position and transmits the signal to the receiver, which enables the exhaust system.

What happens if the window is closed while the hood is running? In this case, the receiver interrupts the power supply to the exhaust system. The hood switches off or can no longer be operated - this serves to protect against negative pressure and dangerous exhaust gas backlogs.

Can the system also be used with multiple windows? Yes. For an OR operation (at least one of two windows open) an additional magnetic window switch can be used Kabel-Magnetschalter KMS 098K22 (Item 300743) can be installed.

🛠️ installation & compatibility

Does the KDS 210 exhaust air control fit every extractor hood? Yes – it is suitable for all devices that are powered by a mains plug. The extractor hood is simply connected to the socket using the adapter plug (receiver). The cable is connected to the magnetic window switch.

How is the transmitter attached to the window? The transmitter and the magnet are mounted directly on the window frame and window sash using the enclosed screws; you can use the enclosed spacer plates to create height compensation between the window frame and window sash. Please make sure that the distance between the transmitter and the magnet is a maximum of 5 mm, ideally 1-2 mm.

Can I install the system myself or do I need an electrician? The transmitter is easy to assemble yourself. The receiver is plugged into the socket without any electrical installation – no electrician required.

What is the difference between built-in and plug-in receivers? The Built-in receiver (KDS 110 | KDS 116) is firmly integrated into the power cable of the extractor hood.
The Intermediate plug-in receiver (KDS 210) becomes simply plugged between the socket and the hood – without any wiring.

How can I monitor two windows? (OR link)

You have the option with an additional Kabel-Magnetschalter KMS 098K22 (Item 300743) to use a second window. At least one window must then be open so that the exhaust system can start operating.

How does the extension work with Kabel-Magnetschalter KMS 098K22 (Item 300743)? The additional magnetic window switch is mounted on the window like the first one. Both switches work in parallel.

Can the control line | the cable needs to be extended?

You can extend the cable that is already pre-assembled on the KDS 210 with any 2-wire cable, up to around 25 meters ( LIYY Steuerleitung, Meterware, Artikel 300780). When ordering in our shop, you can also specify the desired cable length directly and we will then produce this special construction especially for you. Please add the LIYY cable in the desired length to your shopping cart. Please allow up to 3 days longer delivery time; special lengths cannot be ordered through wholesalers for logistical reasons.

Can I use the permanently installed contact from the window manufacturer in my frame for the KDS? You can do this if it is a normally open contact. A closer is closed when the window is closed. Connect the included 10k cable break protection resistor in parallel at the connection point between the KDS line and the contact line.

Why is exhaust air control for extractor hoods required by law? If exhaust air systems are operated in rooms with fireplaces, negative pressure can arise - this could cause toxic exhaust gases (e.g. carbon monoxide) to flow back. Exhaust air control prevents this and is mandatory in these cases. see Fireplace Ordinance (§4 Abs. 2 FeuVo) 

Does the KDS 210 cable exhaust air control meet the regulations for exhaust air systems in connection with fireplaces?

Yes, the KDS 210 cable exhaust air control is therefore also TÜV-tested and DIBt (German Institute for Building Technology) certified. You can find the approval certificate on this website in the download area.
