Scope of delivery

  • Control unit (receiver)
  • Cable magnetic switch / window contact (transmitter)
  • Control cable 6 m (flexible cable LIYY (2 x 0.14 mm²), diameter 3.0 mm
  • 4 spacer plates for magnet/switch (for height adjustment when mounting on the window or window frame)
  • Mounting material
  • Operating instructions

Color telegray, transmitter housing also available on request in various RAL colors for an additional charge!

The KDS 116 cable exhaust air control ensures the safe operation of exhaust air systems by monitoring the window position and transmitting the information via the control cable to the built-in receiver. The magnetic switch on the window reliably detects whether the window is tilted or open. Only when the window is open can fresh air flow in, preventing dangerous negative pressure that could draw toxic carbon monoxide from combustion chambers into the room.

The KDS 116 cable exhaust control does not interrupt the entire power supply to the exhaust air system when the window is closed. The power is disconnected selectively – only the fan function is deactivated, allowing other functions such as lighting, the timer, or the control panel to remain active , provided the device installation supports this. A plus in convenience and safety!

Operation with second window (OR operation):
You have the option of using a second window with an additional cable magnetic switch KMS 098K22 (item 300743). In this case, at least one window must be open for the exhaust air system to operate.

KDS 116 combined with flue gas temperature monitor ATW-519 : As soon as the flue gas temperature in the flue pipe exceeds 40 °C, the window must be opened.

Anschlussbeispiel BORA Basic BIA | BHA | …

BORA Professional Home In, Miele KMDA7774, uvm.

🔧Technology & Function

How exactly does the KDS 116 exhaust air control work?
The KDS 116 cable exhaust control ensures that your exhaust system (e.g., extractor hood) can only be switched on when a window is open. A wired magnetic window switch detects the window position and transmits the signal to the receiver, which activates the exhaust system.

What happens if the window is closed while the hood is running?
In this case, the receiver interrupts the power supply to the exhaust system. The hood shuts down or can no longer be operated – this serves to protect against negative pressure and dangerous exhaust backflow.

Can the system also be used with multiple windows?
Yes. For an OR connection (at least one of two windows open), an additional magnetic window switch can beCable magnetic switch KMS 098K22(Article 300743) can be installed.

🛠️Installation & Compatibility

Does the KDS 116 fit every extractor hood?
Basically yes – it can be integrated into any 230 V supply line to the hood or exhaust system. For devices with special connections, consult the qualified electrician who will install the exhaust control system for you. For devices with a switching capacity of more than 5 amps, the electrician must install a contactor.

How is the transmitter attached to the window?
The transmitter and magnet are mounted directly to the window frame and sash using the included screws. The included spacers allow for height adjustment between the window frame and sash. Please ensure that the distance between the transmitter and the magnet is a maximum of 5 mm; ideally, 1-2 mm.

Can I install the system myself or do I need an electrician?
You can install the transmitter yourself. You should hire a qualified electrician to install the receiver into the power supply.

Is the KDS 116 cable exhaust air control compatible with vented dryers or fireplace stoves?
yes, in this case you canKDS 116with theExhaust gas temperature monitor ATW-519Combine: As soon as the flue gas temperature in the flue pipe exceeds 40°C, the window must be opened. Consult your chimney sweep before installation to ensure proper inspection afterward. There are significant regional differences over which Elektrotechnik-Schabus has no influence.

What is the difference between a built-in receiver and a plug-in receiver?
TheBuilt-in receiver (KDS 116)is permanently integrated into the power line of the extractor hood.
ThePlug-in receiver (KDS 210)becomes simpleplugged between socket and hood– without any cabling.

Can the control cable be extended?

yes, up to a maximum of 25 meters

🧾Legal & Security

Why is exhaust air control required by law for extractor hoods?
When exhaust air systems are operated in rooms with fireplaces, negative pressure can develop, which could cause toxic exhaust gases (e.g., carbon monoxide) to flow back. Exhaust air control prevents this and is mandatory in these cases. See the Fireplace Ordinance.(§4 para. 2 FeuVo)

Does the KDS 116 cable exhaust air control system meet the regulations for exhaust air systems in conjunction with fireplaces?

Yes, the KDS 116 cable exhaust air control is therefore also TÜV-tested.
