  • Control unit (receiver)
  • Cable magnetic switch / window contact (transmitter)
  • Control cable 6 m (flexible cable LIYY (2 x 0.14 mm²), diameter 3.0 mm
  • 4 spacer plates for magnet/switch (for height adjustment when mounting on the window or window frame)
  • Mounting material

Color telegray, transmitter housing also available on request in various RAL colors for an additional charge!

The KDS 116 cable exhaust air control ensures the safe operation of exhaust air systems by monitoring the window position and transmitting the information via the control cable to the built-in receiver. The magnetic switch on the window reliably detects whether the window is tilted or open. Only when the window is open can fresh air flow in, preventing dangerous negative pressure that could draw toxic carbon monoxide from combustion chambers into the room.

The KDS 116 cable exhaust control does not interrupt the entire power supply to the exhaust air system when the window is closed. The power is disconnected selectively – only the fan function is deactivated, allowing other functions such as lighting, the timer, or the control panel to remain active , provided the device installation supports this. A plus in convenience and safety!

Operation with second window (OR operation):
You have the option of using a second window with an additional cable magnetic switch KMS 098K22 (item 300743). In this case, at least one window must be open for the exhaust air system to operate.

KDS 116 combined with flue gas temperature monitor ATW-519 : As soon as the flue gas temperature in the flue pipe exceeds 40 °C, the window must be opened.

Connection example BORA Basic BIA | BHA | …

Connection example 4Downdraft fans from Bosch, Neff, etc. often have the stove connection panel with its own connection for the fan motor. The bridge must be removed, a conductor is branched off from one of the L connections and connected to the L1 input of the stove connection panel via terminals 1 and 2 of the FDS 100.

Connection example 3Some extractor hood manufacturers offer external connection modules for separate control of the fan motor, z.BBORA Professional Home In, Miele KMDA7774, and many more. This can be achieved with the potential-free relay contact of the FDS 100 receiver. Connecting the FDS 100 to a control contact also makes it BLDC-compatible.

Connection example 2In older extractor hoods with mechanical fan speed switching, the receiver is connected to the fan motor supply line so that the extractor hood lighting works independently of the window position.

Connection example 1When the window is closed, the receiver de-energizes the fan motor of the extractor hood or ventilation system. The receiver can be installed surface-mounted or flush-mounted in a distributor, switch or socket with a minimum diameter of 60 mm. The side fastening tabs on the receiver can be broken away if necessary. Installation in the extractor hood itself should be avoided to ensure a good radio connection.

Danger! Metals shield radio transmissions* Obstacles, especially metals, sometimes significantly reduce the range compared to open space. The actual range always depends on the respective installation. If there are frequent interruptions in operation, despite a fresh battery, a poor radio link is often to blame. The distance between the transmitter and receiver hardly plays a role. Keep the receiver at least 20 cm away from the nearest metal surface. Thick glass plates, ceramic hobs, kitchen cupboards with pots and pans, as well as walls and ceilings also provide excellent protection from radio waves and disrupt reliable operation. For a good connection, when installing, orient the receiver so that its LED “looks” towards the transmitter.

🔧 Technology & function

How does the KDS 116 exhaust air control work exactly? The KDS 116 cable exhaust air control ensures that your exhaust system (e.g. extractor hood) can only be switched on when a window is open. A wired magnetic window switch detects the window position and transmits the signal to the receiver, which enables the exhaust system.

What happens if the window is closed while the hood is running? In this case, the receiver interrupts the power supply to the exhaust system. The hood switches off or can no longer be operated - this serves to protect against negative pressure and dangerous exhaust gas backlogs.

Can the system also be used with multiple windows? Yes. For an OR operation (at least one of two windows open) an additional magnetic window switch can be used Kabel-Magnetschalter KMS 098K22 (Item 300743) can be installed.

🛠️ installation & compatibility

Does the KDS 116 fit any extractor hood? Basically yes - it can be integrated into any 230V supply line to the hood or exhaust system. For devices with special connections, ask the trained electrician who will install the exhaust air control for you. If the switching capacity is more than 5 amps, a qualified electrician must connect a contactor.

How is the transmitter attached to the window? The transmitter and the magnet are mounted directly on the window frame and window sash using the enclosed screws; you can use the enclosed spacer plates to create height compensation between the window frame and window sash. Please make sure that the distance between the transmitter and the magnet is a maximum of 5 mm, ideally 1-2 mm.

Can I install the system myself or do I need an electrician? You can attach the transmitter yourself. You should hire a trained electrician to install the receiver in the power supply.

Is the KDS 116 cable exhaust air control compatible with exhaust dryers or fireplaces? Yes, in this case you can use the KDS 116 with the Abgastemperaturwächter ATW-519 combine: As soon as the exhaust gas temperature in the exhaust pipe exceeds 40°C, the window must be opened. Include your chimney sweep in your planning before installation so that nothing stands in the way of acceptance afterwards. There are clear regional differences on which Elektrotechnik-Schabus has no influence.

What is the difference between built-in and plug-in receivers? The Built-in receiver (KDS 116) is firmly integrated into the power cable of the extractor hood.
The Intermediate plug-in receiver (KDS 210) becomes simply plugged between the socket and the hood – without any wiring.

Extensions & Variants

Can I control a second receiver?

no

How can I monitor two windows? (OR link)

You have the option with an additional Kabel-Magnetschalter KMS 098K22 (Item 300743) to use a second window. At least one window must then be open so that the exhaust system can start operating.

How does the extension work with Kabel-Magnetschalter KMS 098K22 (Item 300743)? The additional magnetic window switch is mounted on the window like the first one. Both switches work in parallel.

Can the control line | the cable needs to be extended?

yes, up to a maximum of 25 meters

🧾 Legal & Security

Why is exhaust air control for extractor hoods required by law? If exhaust air systems are operated in rooms with fireplaces, negative pressure can arise - this could cause toxic exhaust gases (e.g. carbon monoxide) to flow back. Exhaust air control prevents this and is mandatory in these cases. see Fireplace Ordinance (§4 Abs. 2 FeuVo)

Does the KDS 116 cable exhaust air control meet the regulations for exhaust air systems in conjunction with fireplaces?

Yes, the KDS 116 cable exhaust air control is also TÜV tested.

🛒 purchase & service

Which components are included in the KDS 116 cable exhaust air control? A cable magnetic switch/window contact (transmitter), a control unit (receiver), 6 meters of control cable, as well as mounting material and detailed operating instructions.

Are there spare parts (e.g. replacement transmitters, batteries, relays)? Yes, the Kabel-Magnetschalter KMS 098K22 (Item 300743)

How long is the guarantee? You receive a 2-year guarantee on the product in accordance with legal regulations.
