GX-CO gas sensor for carbon monoxide – safety in combustion processes
The GX-CO gas sensor from Elektrotechnik Schabus is a reliable and precise sensor for monitoring carbon monoxide (CO) in indoor air – especially in rooms with potential CO sources such as heating systems, open fireplaces, garages, or workshops. In conjunction with the GX-A1+ or GX-HS gas detectors, the GX-CO sensor offers an effective way to detect dangerous CO concentrations early and automatically initiate appropriate measures.
As a versatile all-rounder with a wide detection range, this sensor is ideal for the early detection of technical malfunctions or leaks. It usefully complements existing security solutions, but does not replace specialized devices such as smoke or carbon monoxide detectors for targeted threat prevention.
Carbon monoxide is a colorless, odorless, and tasteless gas produced by the incomplete combustion of carbon-containing materials—and can be life-threatening even in low concentrations. Therefore, constant monitoring in enclosed spaces is essential, especially in areas with poor ventilation or backflow of exhaust gases.
The GX-CO uses an electrochemical sensor known for its high long-term stability and low drift. The device detects CO concentrations starting at 30 ppm and reliably sounds an alarm at higher levels. It is typically installed at head height, as carbon monoxide has almost the same density as air and distributes evenly throughout the room. Its robust design and easy integration into existing control or ventilation systems make the GX-CO particularly attractive for installers and operators of technical building equipment.
Typical areas of application are:
The sensor is developed and manufactured in Germany—like all Elektrotechnik Schabus products—and meets the highest quality standards. The GX-CO stands for reliable detection, ease of use, and long-lasting technology "Made in Germany."
The sensor connection cable can be extended. The following minimum cross-sections are required depending on
from the length of the cable:
Cable cross-section 3 x 0.75 mm²: maximum length 10 m
Cable cross-section 3 x 1.5 mm²: maximum length 20 m
Sensitivity characteristics
to ethanol vapor and various other gases and vapors. The sensor exhibits different properties for each gas or vapor. The GX-CO is very sensitive to vapors from organic solvents and alcohols.
