The CO2 traffic light “school” with internal NDIR sensor is an indicator for the carbon dioxide content in the room air and provides a visual warning when the air quality in indoor spaces, where many people often gather, becomes increasingly poor and encourages regular ventilation.
Fresh air means more oxygen – and therefore greater well-being and increased productivity. Too little oxygen makes us weak and tired – and ultimately more susceptible to illness. But nobody wants to freeze either – so it's important to find the right balance. The basics of energy-saving ventilation are easily achieved with our "school" CO2 traffic light – it switches to yellow exactly when it's time to ventilate – not too early, and not too late. And the traffic light also switches back to green in time when there's sufficient oxygen in the classroom again. So no one has to freeze anymore just because the room was ventilated for too long and too thoroughly. This, of course, also saves a lot of heating and air conditioning costs, which would otherwise have been almost literally thrown out the window. The CO2 traffic light itself has very low energy consumption – and also switches off the LED lights at night, making it even more economical.
Ventilate and save energy at the same time
The "school" CO2 traffic light is available not only in green, but also in white or gray – or, upon request, painted in any RAL color. The included wall mount is mounted on a wall at a height of 1.8 - 2 meters, as far away as possible from the nearest window or door, and the power supply with its 2.3-meter-long cable is plugged into a power outlet. After a three-minute warm-up phase, the "school" CO2 traffic light is ready for use. You can also order an anti-theft device, a ball guard, or a stand. As soon as the "school" CO2 traffic light lights up yellow (from 1000 ppm), open a window and ventilate until the light turns green again. Often, ventilation is too short, too long, or too frequent, which causes unnecessary heating or air conditioning costs. The LED lights automatically dim at night, making the "school" CO2 traffic light particularly energy-efficient.
Important information about all CO2 traffic lights
Please do not unplug your traffic light overnight! The traffic light uses the nighttime quiet periods to calibrate itself correctly – just like with regular, daily ventilation in the rooms. Therefore, please leave the traffic light permanently switched on, i.e. connected to the mains, during business and/or school hours. The traffic light remembers the lowest CO2 concentration of the last 7 days and resets itself to its theoretical zero point at this rate. For this automatic calibration, the weekly average is significantly more meaningful than a daily average. To save energy, the traffic light has a light sensor that dims the LEDs after 10 minutes of total darkness, thus reducing the overall power consumption.
That’s why it’s so important to supply the traffic lights with power at night too.
The traffic light can only be taken off the grid during school holidays / company holidays of more than 7 days.
