The ASB 116 start-up current limiter is used in conjunction with AC electric motors and power tools that start at idle. This electronic current limiter prevents the household circuit breaker in the power connection box from tripping due to high inrush currents. The start-up current limiter is also suitable for capacitor motors, large transformers, and halogen lamps. The ASB is only suitable for operation on the public power grid.
Using the ASB is very simple. Instead of the power tool, the ASB is plugged into the socket, and the tool – possibly via an extension cord – is plugged into the ASB. The ASB is ready for use immediately; there are no settings to be made, and there aren't even any operating elements. Now start the power tool at idle, and ideally, you won't even notice that the ASB is limiting the inrush current. The moment your tool's motor starts, you can immediately start working: push the wooden board through the circular saw, dip the angle grinder into the stone, or feed the shredder with garden waste.
There's just one thing you should be careful about: Give the ASB some time to cool down and avoid turning the tool on and off multiple times per minute. If this is unavoidable, limit the number of turns on to about 60 per hour, as the limiting components in the ASB get very hot.
