⚙️ Reliable water detection via current consumption

The SHT 8824 is a compact, active water sensor with two V4A stainless steel contacts and a potted housing made of Wepuran® plastic .
It works as a constant current sink :

  • Dry operation: approx. 4 mA

  • Wet operation: approx. 20 mA

➡️ This current change allows a clear distinction between “dry” and “wet” – ideal for controllers with a 2-wire interface.


🧪 High sensitivity – even detects DIY store distillate

The sensor is extremely sensitive:
✅ Even simple distilled water according to VDE 0510-5 (e.g. from the hardware store) is reliably detected.
The technology only reaches its limits when it comes to completely ion-free ultrapure water.
