⚙️ Reliable water detection through resistance change

The SHT 8815 is a robust active water sensor with two V4A stainless steel contacts and a potted plastic housing made of Wepuran®.
As soon as water or another conductive liquid touches the contacts, the resistance between the two wires drops from several megaohms to several hundred ohms.
➡️ This allows the sensor to be easily connected to digital inputs with an internal pull-up or pull-down resistor .

🚫 Not compatible with Schabus water detectors

The SHT 8800 is not suitable for direct connection to Schabus water detectors . Please note this during integration.

🧪 Special instructions for use

Active water sensors like the SHT 8815 require auxiliary power (e.g., the control unit's operating voltage). They respond to water contact with measurable electrical changes – in this case:
➡️ Resistance reduction that can be reliably detected at digital inputs.

Since electrolysis occurs with DC voltage in humid environments, the sensor is designed for regularly dry environments and only occasional water sources .

🧰 Installation & connection made easy

  • An aluminum-reinforced drill hole facilitates secure fastening.

  • The sensor cables (3 x 0.14 mm²) are flexible and can be easily extended (max. 20 meters).

  • LIYY cables are temporarily waterproof, flame-retardant, low-adhesion, self-extinguishing, and resistant to oils, greases, coolants, and lubricants.

🔌 Can I connect the SHT 8815 directly to a Schabus water detector?

❌ No. The SHT 8815 is a active sensor and therefore not compatible with Schabus water detectors, which for passive sensors are designed with potential-free contact.
It is intended exclusively for connection to controls with suitable digital inputs.

⚙️ How does the sensor work when it comes into contact with water?

💧 The sensor detects conductive liquids through a significant change in resistance:

  • Trocken: mehrere Megaohm
  • Nass: einige hundert Ohm
    Diese Änderung kann zuverlässig von Digitaleingängen mit internem Pullup- oder Pulldown-Widerstand detektiert werden.

🔋 Does the sensor require its own power supply?

✅ Yes. The SHT 8815 is a active sensor and therefore requires Auxiliary energy, e.g. B. due to the operating voltage of the connected controller or an internal bias current.
Without this energy, the sensor does not work reliably.

🌧️ Can the sensor be permanently installed in a humid environment?

⚠️ Not recommended. The SHT 8815 is for regularly dry environments designed.
At constant moisture electrolysis can result in a Corrosion of contacts come. ➡️ Ideal for applications where water detection is only required occasionally.

🔧 How is the sensor mounted?

🛠️ The sensor can be screw tightly – a integrated aluminum drill hole is already available for this.
The matching Mounting material is included in delivery.

📏 Can I extend the connection cable?

✅ Yes. The sensor cable (2 x 0.14 mm²) can easily be extended by up to Extended 20 meters become – e.g. B. with LIYY cable (article 300780).
