📋 Scope of delivery

  • Exhaust gas temperature monitor ATW 519 with 10k
  • 2 m silicone connection cable (4-wire) for max. 180°C
  • Mounting flange with adjusting screw and 2 self-tapping screws

🎯 Perfectly matched to the KDS cable exhaust air control

The specially adapted Certotec ATW 519 KDS was developed by Elektrotechnik Schabus specifically for use with the KDS 110 and KDS 116 cable exhaust air controls . Its special feature: The integrated 10 kΩ fuse resistor makes it possible to reliably distinguish a closed contact (furnace running) from a cable break or an open contact (furnace off | window open) . This feature is essential for KDS systems, as the resistance allows them to distinguish between deliberate operation and errors.

This eliminates the need to open a window to operate the extractor hood—if the stove isn't running anyway, the control system automatically detects this. A clever solution for households where the stove is only used occasionally.

🛠 Typical areas of application

  • Exhaust air release without opening the window : KDS automatically detects that the stove is off

  • Thermal switch in set KDT 210 : For temperature monitoring in complete systems

  • Alternative to radio transmission : Also available as radio version FTX 519

⚙️ Technical features and installation instructions

The ATW 519 KDS also has a switching point of approximately 40 °C , is TÜV-tested according to DIN EN 14597 , and offers maximum operational reliability thanks to its intrinsically safe, maintenance-free design . Its electrical feature is the integrated 10 kΩ resistor , which serves as a cable break detector. This function is intended exclusively for KDS systems; with other control systems, the resistor may interfere with operation.

This temperature monitor is also suitable for exhaust gas temperatures up to 500°C . The switch head and the pre-assembled 2 m silicone cable can withstand temperatures up to 180°C. For longer distances, the connecting cable can be extended with a 2-wire cable outside of the heat source.

It is mounted directly on the stovepipe – ideally approximately 80 cm from the top edge of the stove . This ensures that a switching signal is only sent to the KDS system when the stove is actually in operation. It is connected in series with the window contact – entirely in accordance with the KDS system logic.

🛡️ Wired precision for your KDS system. Connect directly and control securely.

FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions

🛠 Technology & Function

How does the exhaust gas temperature monitor ATW 519 work with the KDS 110 / 116?
The ATW 519 uses a sensor to monitor the flue gas temperature in the stove pipe. If a preset temperature is exceeded, the device activates an output relay. In combination with a window contact switch (e.g., KDS 110 or 116), this ensures that exhaust air devices can only operate when the window is open and the stove is in operation.

What temperature limit can I set?
The switching threshold is factory set to 40°C.

What happens in the event of a power outage?
The ATW 519 is mains-powered. In the event of a power failure, the relay returns to its initial position, shutting down any connected exhaust air devices. This increases operational safety.

🧰 Installation & Compatibility

Is the temperature sensor included in delivery?
Yes, a suitable flue gas temperature sensor for installation in the stove pipe is included in the delivery.

What is the difference between KDS 110 and KDS 116?
The KDS 110 is a wired exhaust air control system with a magnetic window contact switch and DIBt certification. It has a switching capacity of 1150 VA (700 W) at 5 A (3 A) – battery-free and reliable. The KDS 116 does not have DIBt certification, but offers a higher switching capacity of 3500 VA (2300 W) at 16 A (10 A).

Is the system also suitable for rental apartments?
Yes, in rental apartments, combining it with the wired KDS 110 window contact makes sense, as no structural changes are necessary and the sensor can be removed without leaving any residue. No battery changes are necessary, and there are no wireless issues.

➕ Extensions & Variants

Can I use the ATW 519 without a window contact?
No. The ATW 519 is part of a safety system that only functions fully in combination with a window contact switch. Without an open window, no exhaust fan may be operated while the furnace is running – this prevents dangerous negative pressure.

Is the system also available as a set?
No, but for the ATW 519 you can put together a combination yourself at Elektrotechnik Schabus, for example with the KDS 110/ 116. Elektrotechnik Schabus also offers coordinated radio control sets, for example theFDS 100 Set or FDS 200 Set, each with FTX 519 or FTW 519– a complete solution for wireless exhaust air control with furnace monitoring. Ideal for retrofitting and modernization.

⚖ Legal & Security

Why is an exhaust gas temperature monitor useful or required?
In rooms with fireplaces and exhaust ventilation systems, a dangerous negative pressure can develop if the window is closed while the system is in operation. Smoke could flow back into the living space. In many cases, chimney sweeps therefore require a technical safety device such as the ATW 519. See the Fireplace Ordinance.(§4 para. 2 FeuVo)

Does the system meet the chimney sweep's requirements?
Yes, the system meets the requirements of many district chimney sweeps. However, it is recommended to coordinate the specific design with the responsible chimney sweep in advance.

🛒 Purchase & Service

Where can I buy the ATW 519 with KDS 110 / 116?
You can purchase this product from specialist retailers, online shops or directly from the manufacturer: Elektrotechnik Schabus

Are there spare parts and accessories?
Yes, temperature sensors, window contacts and other accessories are available separately.

Who can help me with technical questions or warranty issues?
Our technical support is available by phone or email. You can find the contact details on our website.
