Beverage dispensing systems are systems from which, with or without operating overpressure, beverages are dispensed for final consumption, ... e.g. beer, wine, hot beverages containing wine, non-alcoholic soft drinks, water, smoothies and spirits.

Gas warning systems in accordance with DIN 6653-2 "Beverage dispensing systems - Equipment - Part 2: Requirements for the operating behavior and test methods of carbon dioxide warning systems" must be used to ensure adequate personal protection.
Gas warning systems must be equipped with at least two alarm thresholds. The pre-alarm is triggered at a carbon dioxide concentration from
1.5% by volume, the main alarm at 3% by volume and above. The pre-alarm and main alarm must be visually and acoustically distinct from each other.

How does a NDIR work

An NDIR sensor is a non-dispersive infrared sensor consisting of an IR diode as light source, an optical wavelength filter and an IR detector. Ambient air diffuses through a membrane into a chamber. Each gas has its own wavelength in which it optimally absorbs light in the infrared spectrum. The extent is measured electro-optically, providing a reference for the concentration present.

City and natural gas

Let's start with town gas, which no longer exists. It was produced from coal gasification and contained a fairly high proportion of toxic carbon monoxide, see page 74. Town gas was available until around the end of the 1970s, and in West Berlin until the mid-1990s. It was gradually converted to natural gas, which was not quite so toxic. To do this, the incinerators had to be rebuilt, and different seals and valves were needed. However, the name "town gas" is still present in the population, which is why we still call our sensor for combustible gases the town and natural gas sensor (SE).

IP protection types and protection classes

What is the protection class?

The protection class defines the suitability of an electrical device for certain environmental conditions. Depending on the classification, it is regulated whether and how the device must be protected against the ingress of moisture and other foreign bodies. The shock resistance is also defined by the protection class.

What does IP protection class mean?

The abbreviation IP stands for International Protection. It is also commonly referred to as Ingress Protection, which means protection against intrusion.

What does a relay actually do

One of the most important elements of Schabus products is the relay. Whether as a potential-free contact in the exhaust air controls, for switching off the washing machine during an aquastop or as an alarm message from the gas detectors, every switching operation is handled by a relay.

A relay is simply a switch that is not operated by hand, but by electronics. The biggest advantage of a relay is that large powers can be switched with very low currents from the electronics.

Methane - CH4

Methane is a chemical compound with the molecular formula CH4 and the simplest representative of the alkanes. Under normal conditions, it is a colorless, odorless, flammable gas. Methane is insoluble in water and forms explosive mixtures with air. It burns with a bluish-bright flame in the presence of sufficient oxygen to form carbon dioxide and water.

It occurs naturally and is the main component of natural gas.

Heavy rain - dancing in the rain

Everyone has certainly experienced this for themselves at some point: right now, in the peak summer months of July and August, it is often warm and even hot - and very dry. Not a cloud of rain clouds the blue sky. As a gardener you can't keep up with the watering cans - and the farmers complain about bad harvests because of the drought. The danger of forest fires is also increasing - we hear it constantly on the news.

A good downpour or even a summer thunderstorm comes in handy - doesn't it?
On the one hand, yes - but these weather conditions harbor another danger that you might not immediately think of: heavy rain with extremely high amounts of water in a small space, i.e. at least 25 liters per square meter in one hour.

Things to know about exhaust air controls

Safety devices are subject to the building regulations and are only permitted if they bear the mark of conformity (Ü mark) from the German Institute for Building Regulations (DIBt)!

When buying, pay attention to the DIBt approval!

Your exhaust air control (window contact switch) should definitely have a DIBt approval so that you can be sure to get the highest possible safety. Your chimney sweep will also look for this test when recommending such a system.
